Note: The kitten is well. She still has a URI, but is doing better and is very playful and a real purrer. She’s good company.

I wish there was more time in the day. I built tomato planter boxes this weekend, but don’t have pictures to show yet because we’re flipping them upside down for now to protect our other plants from the late frost (tomatoes to be planted tomorrow). I’ve begun the sketches for a freelance job involving mice and crickets. I’ve just done the first attempt at final designs for the characters for the strip which will replace Spacetrawler (I finally have the style down, but only like 2 out of the 6 designs). Since I sent my novel to my agent last week, I’ve dug out my previous novel which had gone on hold, and I began working on that again.

Good times. I just have so many thoughts and ideas in my head, I wish time was slower or I was super-fast! Ah well. I love it. I just love it so much.

Saint Crispin’s Day? The difference is rather negligible. At least in Dusty’s mind, I’m sure.

So, I knew our cats loved it when we’d buy them those tiny little pots of wheat/cat-grass, and they’d mow it down to next to nothing. And so I was feeling somewhat industrious, and took some wood scraps, some extra soil, soaked some hard winter wheat berries, and voila. We have some very happy cats right now.

The kitten is doing okay. Still fighting a URI. Looking forward to in a week-and-a-half, the kitten will be old enough to get FIV tested, and then we can introduce her to the other cats.

And I’ve been meaning to say, thank you for all the kind words about adopting! My girlfriend and I have 5 cats (Babette, the kitten, if #5) and they’re all adopted. For those unaware, animal shelters in the US have to euthanize about 3-4 million animals each year because they were not adopted. So if you’re thinking of buying an animal in a pet-store or from a breeder, please don’t. Love is more important then breed.

I have not yet seen Iron Man 3, and not sure if I’ll get the chance, but I hear it is very very good. And I did an Iron Man doodle for my doodle group.

If you’re interested in reading a REALLY GOOD and interesting synopsis of Spacetrawler for the uninitiated, Robynne Blume wrote an excellent one in her blog of Webcomics Worth Wreading. Thanks, Robynne!

In other news, for all of you Little Dee fans out there, Audra Furuichi and Scott Yoshinaga do a CUTE comic called “Nemu*Nemu,” and they are in the middle of a several-week-long story featuring none other than VACHEL. That storyline starts HERE (then devour the archives and buy the books!)

Can I just say? I’ve been listening to “Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality” for a couple weeks now and been unable to turn it off. I like the characters from Rowling’s book, and have really enjoyed seeing them turned on their heads in this fan-fic, not to mention that it shows in a way a more realistic approach to a bright scientific-minded person entering Hogwarts. As they say in the prologue “All science mentioned is real science.” And it’s fun. And kind of evil. How odd. There are not enough hours in the day. That’s all I’m saying. You know?

My sweetie and I went for a walk to the store, and on the way back we adopted a kitten. “Babette” was a stray who approached us near an apartment house. We found some tenants who lived there, who said she lived under the porch, had no owner, and her momma had gone away. Poor thing has a URI and gunky eyes and ear mites, and frankly, who knows what her fate might have been.

I dearly hope I never drew Pierrot returning Dimitr’s gun. I looked, but I have this nagging feeling he may have. Anyone remember?

So, as you may have been noticing, the story is slowly coming to a close. I mapped out the remaining strips, it points to maybe mid-July, which more likely means sometime in August. And I have a question for you! I’ve begun writing the sequence of Dimitri handling the Galactic Secret Society, and so, are there any plot threads you feel need tying up? Any niggly bit which could use a cap to clean up? If so, let me know in the comments here. I may already have thoughts on how I’m going to wrap up you particular concern, but if not, this is my chance to toss it in!

Had a good week. Built a raised bed and filled it, bag-by-bag, with varying types of soil. Tiring dirty work, but satisfying.

Lastly, there’s a fundraiser for a book, Neverland’s Library Fantasy Anthology on the theme of “rediscovery.” Looks damn interesting!

My arms are sore from racquetball, and my belly is full of cookies. All is right in the world*. And I went to a drawing studio thing for the first time in ages. Did a fun little sketch:

Sunday we finally went to the Hyde Museum in Glens Falls. And I have to say, it’s small, but it’s a very nice art collection. The only problem with going to museums is it makes me want to paint, and who has time for that?

I did play racquetball this weekend, so, yay for that. Such fun. If you find something you enjoy that keeps you physically active (all you desk jockeys like me) do it do it do it (everything else I’ve tried, since soccer in High School, has bored me to tears).

Now I’m playing around with 3-D modeling (snort, because I have time for that). I swear, I will never, ever, EVER catch up. More cookies? Sigh. More kale. Mmm. Maybe I’ll make some kale chips.
